Running through my head.

Grimy senryu

I would wash the bike —
But Mrs. Fetched would insist
I wash her car, too.

Softness on softness:
Cherry blossoms fall to sleep
On a bed of moss.

On a sidewalk

Warm southerly breeze.
A tree caresses my hair,
As I walk beneath.

Oooookayyyy

A Chinese seamstress
Said to my Daughter Dearest:
"Your boobs are heavy."

Winter on Planet Georgia

Heavy, wet white flakes,
Turning green pine limbs to white.
Snow swirls on the road.

Bony

Tall woman jogging.
Are her breasts really smaller
Than her knobby knees???

But It's Year-Round

Her quick refusal
Summons the deep winter chill
Into our bedroom.

When I was younger,

On Christmas morning.

Pattering on leaves:
Raindrops falling from the roof?
Or a swarm of mice?

A Christmas decoration?

Pauses, then gives the downbeat.

Duck!

Mallards on patrol,
One December afternoon.
A bored hawk watches.

I literally flushed the hawk out of his perch above the sidewalk. I was paying attention to the ducks, so didn’t see him until he swooped overhead on his way to a safer tree. The ducks didn’t seem to be too worried about the hawk.

Record highs

December warm spell.
And yet the air remembers
Its seasonal chill.

Disappearing Act

A white church steeple,
Its cross nigh invisible
In a winter sky.

Dust, or…

Sparkles in the air,
Dust motes lifted by sunlight —
Or fairies dancing?
